Oral Surgery

It is the specialty of dentistry which includes the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. (America Dental Assoc.)

Dental implants- it is an artificial tooth root that is placed into the jaw to hold a replacement crown or bridge. The implant is the most ideal treatment for missing tooth/ teeth, and also an option to patients with existing denture or bridge.

Odontectomy- it is a procedure regarding the removal of an impacted tooth which is partially or fully embedded on the bone. This procedure involves incision and bone removal to expose the underlying tooth prior to extraction. The most common tooth that are impacted is the wisdom tooth or 3rd molars.

Surgical extraction- when an extraction of a tooth is assessed to be difficult, then a surgical extraction is indicated. Incision, bone removal and sectioning of the tooth may be done for complete retrieval of the tooth. The suture is placed for better wound healing and to hasten recovery.
